The design is something which can be both a talking point or simply slip away into the room which is something we love. As the quietest on the market its ability to work unnoticed is a positive. We would like to see a night light mode which could help some users but careful placement should eliminate this as being a problem.

The smallest offering from Philips has impressive cleaning power with a CADR of 190. The compact size means it fits neatly into any space and with a modest design won’t draw too much attention. The noise however might, being one of the louder compact purifiers we’ve reviewed and not exactly the cheapest in its group. One touch control makes this unit simple to use.

The Alto nine from EVA is feature rich and certainly looks the part. A step up to this model adds UV and ioniser features which for the price are welcome additions. Surprisingly quiet for a mid-sized unit too, especially compared to other brands.

Having multiple filters available could be a positive or a negative depending on your usage. For most people, swapping out filters or having one which deals with a single purpose only could be a turn-off when other units will do the job with a single multi filter. For some, the idea of having a dedicated pet filter might be useful for allergies if other brands can't cater for their needs.

Conclusion
A small unit with unique styling is a win for us but the colour might not be to everyone's taste. Having an H13 filter is a big deal and for such a modestly priced unit this is a good deal, albeit with a smaller CADR than the competition. A two year guarantee is reassuring and not often seen from well known brands.

Conclusion
There's no doubt Phillips makes great products, but up against stiff competition at well under half the price, is the 2000i worth the extra price? With features such as app enabled monitoring and visual feedback for air quality you can see why this is more expensive than others in the small category. But when compared to larger units from other brands, which match or exceed the CADR and coverage, it's hard to justify the extra cost unless monitoring remotely is a must-have feature for you. The replacement filter price is high which could be a turn off for most. The overall quality is fantastic which is what you'd expect from a premium brand.

The classic from Levoit is a mainstay in the small air purifier lineup. An H13 filter in such a cheap unit is impressive and could be attributable to the now old design which is a sticking point for us. Still, it’s nice to see features like lights off for night time and filter change reminder.

The ProBreeze is small. Like, really small! And being this size has its drawbacks as much as the positives. With ioniser technology, active carbon and HEPA there is a lot going on but simply put, the surface area is such that it might never be able to effectively clear a room. Ideal for small spaces and being so cheap it makes our list as a worthwhile contender.

App control, ioniser, active carbon, and H13 HEPA; these are terms usually reserved for larger units but the pint sized A8 punches high delivering a whopping 220 CADR. The build quality is a little off and design might seem standard but it’s what inside that counts, right?

All the usual workings you’d expect from a small purifier, HEPA, active carbon, sleep mode (albeit noisier than most at 26dB).
